Gaby Bedetti
Gaby Bedetti found a job waiting tables at the Game Lodge at Custer State Park through the student employment office at the University of Iowa. Although the servers and housekeepers slept in a log cabin out back, sometimes they would bond by sleeping al fresco and wake to a herd of buffalo grazing nearby. Unfortunately, she did not have the gift of gabbing with the patrons. Yet, a half-century later, she still reminisces about doing the jitterbug in town, careening through the Black Hills, and attending outdoor rock concerts. She also waited tables at Howard Johnson's in Boston. Lastly, she was stranded in Sandusky, Ohio, and spent the week bussing tables.
