Paloma Valencia is a printmaker and painter based in Chicago, Illinois. Originally from Miami, she graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2019 with a BFA in Printmedia. Her linocut practice is an on-going and flawed exploration of the modern American identity through commercial architecture. Her prior professional experience as a host at Beatnik, a restaurant in Chicago's Loop, influences her choice in subject matter; the imagery she carves reference sights from her nightly commute. In 2020, Paloma was the Artist in Residence for the Printmaking and Book Arts Department at Lillstreet Art Center, where she currently teaches printmaking classes to first-time students. She exhibited first solo gallery show in Chicago, SOUVENIRS, at The Martin in 2023. Her work has also appeared in various group shows across the city, including at SAIC Galleries, Free Range, The Martin, and Lillstreet. Her work has also recently been featured in the retail spaces of WNDR Museum and Side Practice Coffee.
