Landon Carter combines painting and sculpting to create true 3D compositions.

"Exploring and revisiting ideas that have interested, frightened, and intrigued me since I was a child, in my work I try to relate the impalpable grandeur of imagination. Painting on multiple formed layers of resin and acrylic paint, allows me to create true 3D compositions that I feel best express how I visualize mentally. The surreal manipulation of images of nature, humanity, and the universe at large represent the interconnectedness of life as well as the visual and metaphysical associations of memories and beliefs. At the center of my work lies a drive to encourage connection between individuals as well as a contemporary aesthetic that challenges the boundaries between the physical and ethereal.’

I began in the service industry at 17 years old as a dishwasher, did that at several different restaurants off and on for 3 years before moving onto becoming a prep cook, and then line cook. I have also been a bell boy for luxury hotels, as well as hosted and served. I learned so much about the world through the lens of a hospitality worker. It sparked my interest in psychology and allowed me to connect with some of the most amazing people I have ever met. I gained all of my first connections in art through working in hospitality, I owe so much to the people I met in this industry. These were the hardest jobs I ever worked in some of the worst times of my life, but I would never trade the experiences I had for anything and I am nothing but grateful for everyone in this industry."
